On May 11th HBO and The LBJ Library at UT in Austin hosted an invite only red carpet, screening, discussion of this new film. ALL THE WAY comes to HBO May 21st, offering a riveting, behind-the-scenes look at President Lyndon B. Johnson’s tumultuous first year in office following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Bryan Cranston (four-time Emmy® winner for “Breaking Bad”) reprises his Tony Award-winning role for the HBO Films presentation, which also stars Anthony Mackie (“The Hurt Locker”) and is directed by Jay Roach (“Trumbo”; Emmy® winner for HBO’s “Game Change” and “Recount”) from a screenplay by Robert Schenkkan (Pulitzer Prize winner for “The Kentucky Cycle”; two-time Emmy® nominee and Writers Guild Award winner for HBO’s “The Pacific”), who has adapted his Tony Award-winning play of the same name. The film’s already buzzing. Read this recent review by The New York Times NYTimes . You can see character spotlights and video snippets from the movie at hbo.com
Also in attendance was Austinite Luci Baines Johnson, daughter of LBJ, who seemed really engaged and fun- the night would not have been complete without her. Yes, she said she really likes the film.
