Kiefer Sutherland’s Music is the Real Thing

Not Enough Whiskey Tour

Austin– Playing the sold out intimate 3TEN Venue at the legendary Austin City Limits (ACL), Kiefer connected with the crowd by chatting, telling stories about his music, and whiskey-drinkin’.  His stories include meeting Merle Haggard decades ago, channeling Johnny Cash, and loving Austin legend Willie Nelson. His stage presence even reminds you of Johnny- boots, hat, white shirt with black vest, humble personality and signature moves between chords. The deep raspiness of Kiefers voice fits his slightly weathered good looks. It sounds of hard livin’, heartbreak, and solitude. He seems to connect with Cash in that outlaw/bad-ass way.  It becomes more evident covering Tom Petty’s song, “Honey Bee” He often comments on the influence of Petty-“he’s never written a bad lyric”-the simplistic lyrics, sound & style. Watch Not Enough Whiskey to get a glimpse.final-5690

Sutherland is the real thing -definitely not an actor ‘trying to be a musician’ that people only come to see because you’re famous. He shared much of his inner self, “I rarely wake up feeling great”.. (to be in a great mood for song-writing). The songs he writes are deeply personal and of hard times or his relationships. He talked of a broken heart at an early age that affected him deeply.final-5449

Good genes and great talent, Sutherland excels at anything he does (daughter, Sarah, currently stars in the hit HBO series, VEEP). Sutherland is mostly known for his starring role in the new ABC series “Designated Survivor”-a great prime-time political drama- and the Fox series “24,”. He also starred in epic movies, “Stand By Me,” “The Lost Boys,” “Young Guns,” “Flatliners,” “A Few Good Men,” “A Time to Kill”.

The New albumDOWN IN A HOLE includes 11 co-written tracks by Sutherland and producer Jude Cole.
