Westworld HBO was the Highlight for Many at SXSW 2018

This year HBO outdid themselves with this amazing interactive experience. Last year they had a cool escape room set in several tv set stages of Veep, Silicone Valley, and Game of Thrones). This year, fans got to experience Westworld– a show with a cult following. ‘Westworld isn’t your typical amusement park. Intended for rich vacationers, the futuristic park — which is looked after by robotic “hosts” — allows its visitors to live out their fantasies through artificial consciousness. “Westworld” — which is based on the 1973 Michael Crichton movie of the same name — features an all-star cast that includes Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins and Golden Globe winner Ed Harris‘ (Wikipedia).

We got to enjoy the fun which started at East Austin’s bar where we checked in and hopped a shuttle about 30 minutes east of town (locals know this as a ghost town village near Manor, TX). We were greeted with a summary drink and either a black or white cowboy hat. When we arrived to the ‘activation’, we were immediately immersed into the world, the sets, the town (Sweetwater) the acting of Westworld. With gun fights, fist fights, robot labs, and a leader who signals when to ‘turn off’ as they go back to their places, this was a creative and fun fan experience for all. Complete with saloons (free drinks), post office, sheriff’s office, robotic lab, and more, it was a total wild west town. Reservations were required and went fast, making this a buzz, exclusive experience at SXSW 2018.
