The Broadway show starring Ben Platt is still going strong and showing nightly in New York. Dear Evan Hansen features a book by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson, a score by Grammy, Tony and Academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman), and direction by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal).

Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of a young man with a social anxiety disorder who wants to belong so much and to make a connection with his peers that he fabricates a relationship with a deceased student (suicide) to become closer to the boy’s family.

The story is so relevant today with so many kids struggling with identity issues, loneliness and sexuality. With suicide as the topic of today, it’s so important for them to know they’re not alone.

It shows that parenting is not an exact science and no one can do it perfectly but that caring and ongoing communication are the keys. This show is as much for parents learning to communicate with their kids, as it is for the kids themselves. It’s about hope.

The music, of course, is amazing. You’ll hear great songs including “Does Anyone Have a Map?”, “You Will Be Found”, “Only Us”, “Waving Through a Window”, and more.

The show is brought by Broadway in Austin and Texas Performing Arts. For more in depth show information visit the show site.
