The ‘Shake Your Money Maker’ tour stopped at Austin’s Germania Insurance Amphitheater (formerly Austin360 Amphitheater set around the F1 racetrack) as it made the rounds in Texas-postponed from 2020 due to Covid. The tour just kicked off a few weeks ago in Nashville and celebrates the 30th anniversary of the same titled award-winning album; they played tracks from the entire album in order.

The band is back together and diehard fans are pumped. Chris and brother Rich made up after years of not speaking to each other (something we’d love to see in other epic bands that have been around for decades – hint: Oasis). The new band compilation includes standout guitarist Isaiah Mitchell and two backup singers.

On a brutal Texas summer night in August (although we’ll take 90’s over the normal 100’s + humidity), the outdoor venue at Circuit of the Americas was packed. The stage setup was a bar with bartender and jukebox that was used during the show. Rich strolled out first then Chris wearing a white suit with multi-colored shirt and shoes (yes, no barefoot show tonight).
The show kicked off with hit tracks “Shake Your Money Maker”, “Twice as Hard”, and “Jealous Again”, and finishing off with a great cover of the Rolling Stones’ “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll (but I Like it)”. It was a fitting finish to show rock is indeed not dead. All the guys looked healthy and fit and sounded great. The fact that the two brothers closed the show arm in arm, shows they’ve moved on and are thrilled to be performing together again, after a long hard year. Here’s hoping the reunion lasts, as these guys have everything it takes to rock out for years to come.
