Austin, Texas
This night was special. With two full sets, friends Todd Rundgren and Daryl Hall have been on a new adventure together. The tour comes during Hall’s recent solo LP release of Before After – a 2-disc set. This show happend to be the last stop on the 14-city tour- what a great place to close out. The tour has been so successful that more dates have been added.

Rundgren engaged often with the crowd, at one point saying ‘I know the world is uncertain right now, but one thing that’s certain is we’re going to sing these songs’. He played key hits from even the 70’s like “Hello It’s Me” and “Real Man” that I grew up listening to on my parents stereo system.
The pair played over 3 hours to a sold out crowd of diehard fans at ACL Live Moody Theater in downtown Austin. The night was filled with hit songs and new twists on old tracks. Hall played some from his solo albums and also from the Hall and Oates catalog plus really fun covers such as Eurythmics’ “Here Comes the Rain Again”- as Hall expressed he wanted to mix things up and do it differently this time. “Isn’t that what it’s about?”, he shared. He experimented on many of his songs, with fun new ways to perform them. Both of their voices were strong and powerful even though they’re in their 70’s. Rundgren had some great guitar moments and can still shred. Plus, they both still have great hair.

The stage was setup in Daryl’s House motif- after his famous TV show. It really looked like his home with fun memories on the walls. The stage itself was packed with a full band, 2 drummers (one percussion/tambourine), legend sax player, 2 keyboard setups, 3 total guitars with amazing solos by Shane Theriot, and later in the set, Daryl at the piano for several songs. The backing vocals by the band were amazing. Daryl’s set closed out with hits fans were waiting for- “Sara Smile” and “I Can’t Go For That” that we all knew the words for. People were dancing in the aisles.
After their respective sets, both using Hall’s large band, Rundgren came out at the encore after Hall’s set for several key songs from their catalogs including Hall and Oates hits and fun covers like “Can We Still Be Friends”. It was cool to see them perform together side by side- we could’ve watched another hour or more of their joint set.
