AUSTIN TEXAS hosted SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA for the very first time recently at the cool new Moody Center in Austin. Austin was one of three stops in Texas on their tour. Dallas and Houston were the others.

The opening act was J. Worra, She started the night off with a great set of mixes! The show was then followed by popular GRIMES
doing a cool DJ set. She’s a Canadian-born singer, songwriter, and DJ and her talents were on full display during her set. She warmed up the night and headliners with beautiful displays of sound and videos that illuminated the crowd. She also had quite the entourage of people dancing on stage during her set.

The crowd had built throughout the night in anticipation to see the Swedish House Mafia play for the very first time in the Capital city.

SHM in Austin

With a draped black curtain between SHM and the crowd, the beats started to slowly pulse stronger with a voice from their track ‘CAN YOU FEEL’ . It was a great way to tease the crowd for what’s to come. With thousands of cell phones from the floor of the arena raised in the air for the first glimpse of SHM! A halo of light pierced through the dark curtain with every beat raising the sound level in the Moody center that was filled to capacity! BOOM!

As the beat dropped, so did the curtain, and Austin’s crowd cheered to see the very first glimpse of the three dj’s that are SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA- AXWELL,SEBASTION INGROSSO,and STEVEN ANGELLO. They are a trio of Swedish DJs that were individually successful and came together in late 2008.

The setlist consisted of 26 songs and by the 4th song of the evening ‘SACRIFICE’, that features THE WEEKEND. The entire arena including the halls of the Moody Center were filled with smoke that poured from the floor of the dj platform.

From the very first song the crowd was energized and danced throughout the entire evening. Large screens on the sides of the arena enlarged SHM in action as they took turns on the center deck (turntable) to lead various songs.

AXWELL took the microphone and walked along the side of the decks and spoke to the crowd and engaged often and stated this was their very first time here and thanked them “for having us, thank you for believing in us”. AXWELL asked “are we allowed to take you home now?” As the intro of ‘HEAVEN TAKES YOU HOME’ began to play, everyone in the arena began to wave hands in the air along with the strobe lights that lit up the arena. It was as if everyone was on a dance floor together, the energy flowed from person to person.

Check out all our photos from the show.
SHM closed out the night with one of their number one singles ‘DON’T YOU WORRY CHILD’ (featuring vocals from JOHN MARTIN), which was their 2nd #1 single on Billboards Dance/Mix show airplay chart in 2012. That had the crowd jumping and screaming along with Martin’s voice. The fireworks on the front end of the stage shot up with every beat. It was spectacular and left the crowd exhausted from the high-energy workout and they still wanted more.
