The ‘Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90’ concert weekend will be one for the books. The 2-day event takes place April 29 and 30th at the legendary Hollywood Bowl (and yes, his actual birthday is on the first night). It’s a jam packed, star-studded show with even more performers as ‘surprise guests’ that we can’t wait to see. Neil Young, Chris Stapleton, Snoop Dogg, Bob Weir, Sheryl Crow, The Lumineers, and Kacey Musgraves are just a few of the performers (there are 35 plus special guests).
“I can’t think of a better way to spend my 90th birthday than being surrounded by family, friends, and of course the fans who made this all possible. It’s an honor to perform with such an incredible group of artists at such an iconic venue.” Nelson said.
Yes, touring is in his blood. He just can’t stop. We have been ‘lucky’ to have covered Willie many times over the years, including his recent Luck Reunion on his Spicewood, Texas ranch, just outside Austin. He’s our local hometown hero.
We’ve covered a ton of big music festivals before, but this lineup is insane and a testament to the bonds that Willie has forged over the years with so many artists across many genres. He’s had a huge influence and mentored many of the artists on the lineup and has performed many times with legends like Neil Young and Warren Haynes. We’re familiar with not just the big names, but all of the performers on the lineup as we’ve been fortunate to have covered their shows. Don’t worry if you haven’t heard of a particular artist- they just might become your fave new musician you’ll add to your playlist. No lineup has been announced for each night, so we can’t share that with you, but based on our experience (and inside scoop) we expect many surprise guests (likely A-list performers) on both nights.
Performers: Bob Weir, The Chicks, Margo Price, Beck, Neil Young, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, Lyle Lovett, Rosanne Cash, Sturgill Simpson, Warren Haynes, The Lumineers, Ziggy Marley, Tom Jones, Billy Strings, Allison Russell, Edie Brickell, Leon Bridges, Nathaniel Rateliff, Norah Jones, Orville Peck, Particle Kid, Lukas Nelson, The Avett Brothers, Tyler Childers. We fully expect his entire family band (all his kids play).
You still might be able to score tickets to this epic event at the Hollywood Bowl. Remember the tickets are good for both nights- it’s a special 2-night event. The event is sponsored by Live Nation, Blackbird Presents, Andrew Hewitt, and Bill Silva Presents.
Willie won’t be bowing out any time soon. He has a tour he’s resuming after the event, including the very cool Outlaw Music Festival tour that kicks off in June and goes through summer in various states. The Dallas tour stop is June 30th and Houston is July 2nd.
