Levitation 2025 introduced several major updates, including the relocation to the Palmer Events Center as the central venue and a hybrid format featuring late-night shows in the Red River District. For those who may have been concerned about the festival vibe changing, 2025 proved that it’s truly the Psych Fest community that makes Levitation an Austin original. The fest continues to carve out a niche for lovers of the outer reaches of psych-rock, electronica, punk, and metal, creating an atmosphere of like-minded concert-goers with a unique flavor not duplicated anywhere else.
Among the weekend’s standouts, Mastodon delivered a seismic, tightly honed set that balanced technical precision with sheer power, while Blood Incantation pushed death metal into cosmic territory, layering atmosphere and intensity in equal measure. The Ravonettes brought noir-tinged cool with their signature blend of reverb-drenched guitars and haunting harmonies, evoking both nostalgia and edge. But the undeniable peak came with Saturday night closer TV on the Radio, whose performance was transcendent – an emotional, electrifying set that seamlessly fused art rock, soul, and experimental energy into something timeless.Levitation continues to capture the best of Austin’s musical spirit: boundary-pushing, communal, and alive with experimentation.
